Jason King
B.Arch. (Hon.), M.Arch., Principal
Jason King is a multi-disciplinary designer who has practiced architecture
in Berlin, Rotterdam, Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, New York and London.
His professional experience covers a varied number of design fields
which includes architecture, landscape architecture, urban design,
experience and exhibition design, interior design and industrial design.
King was among ten young firms selected for Architectural Record’s
first “Vanguard” issue in 2000 and his work has been featured
in AMC, Frame, World Architecture, Azure, Architectural Record, L’Arca,
I.D. Magazine, and in the book "-40 The New Generation in International
Architecture" which shows the work of the fifty finalists of
the Borromini Prize for Architecture. Jason King's work has been exhibited
in various venues including the Workscene Gallery in Toronto, the Van Allen Institute in New York, and the International Union of Architects XXII World Congress. He has received numerous awards
for his design work in architecture which include an AIA Honor Award for Unbuilt Architecture, the Canada Council
Arts Grant in Architecture, I.D. Magazine’s Design Distinction
Award and the Canada Council’s most prestigious award in architecture,
the Prix de Rome for 2000.
King earned a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) degree from the
University of Toronto in 1991 and a Master of Architecture degree
from Harvard University in 1996. Jason King has taught architectural design at the University of
British Columbia, Harvard University's Graduate School of Design,
the Boston Architectural Center, the University of Texas (Austin),
Art Center College of Design, , the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Parsons School of Design and the University of Kentucky where
he was the Sue Fan Gooding Visiting Professor for 1998. He has
recently been teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Pratt Institute School
of Architecture and Barnard College
and Columbia University. King is currently a Unit Master at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.
King has lectured widely on contemporary issues in architecture at various venues including: the University of Kentucky, the Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urbanism, the University of Texas, the Southern California Institute of Architecture and the University GD Annunzio in Pescara, Italy.
King established the firm JASON KING ASSOCIATES in 1997 with former
principal George Yu, and has specialized in the design of many innovative
projects that forefront issues of education and community building.
These innovative environments have been commissioned and built for
companies such as IBM, Sony and Virgin.
